Kareena Kapoor honoured in the House of Commons
Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor was honoured in the House of Commons here by an Asian ethnic weekly for her contribution to the global entertainment industry. Leading NRI MP Rt Hon Keith Vaz, Chairman of Britain's Home Affairs Committee, presented a framed golden coloured plaque to the 33-year old actress last night.Others who were honoured by the Asian Sunday Newspaper are singer Kimberley Walsh and magician Dynamo (Aka Steven Frayne) for their contributions to the global entertainment industry. Kareena has acted in several blockbuster films including 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham', 'Omkara', 'Jab We Met', '3 Idiots', 'Golmaal 3' and 'Bodyguard'. While receiving the award, Kareena said, "UK has been one of my most favoured destinations. There has always been special relation between India and the UK and over the years the bond has become stronger." She recalled that her great grand mother was British and her father-in-law, late Nawab of Pataudi, captained Oxford cricket team. "England has been kind to me," she stated. Speaking on the occasion, Keith Vaz complimented Fatima Patel, Managing Director of I&E Media, publisher of Asian Sunday newspaper for her decision to bring out the London edition of the newspaper next month.
Kareena Kapoor Closes Lakme Fashion Week in Gaurav Gupta’s creation
Celebrating a decade in the fashion industry, ace designer Gaurav Gupta, with Bollywood diva Kareena Kapoor Khan in tow, brought the curtains down at the Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2015 by showcasing his line, which was high on sculpting. This is the first time that Kareena and Gaurav have collaborated for a fashion show.Kareena, whose outfit was a playful juxtaposition of Gaurav's signature drapes and structure, said she loves working with new designers like him. "It's very interesting to collaborate with new designers every time during the finale. "I admire the novelty and quirk that new designers like Gaurav bring to the table. I think the fashion industry needs such creative minds," Kareena told PTI.. A huge installation of a lady was set up in the middle of the circular stage. Models one-by-one emerged from the small pit inside the statue and spread out on the runway, which also consisted of stairs. The piano and cello added to the tempo of the show as models walked to its rhythm at Mehboob Studio. "It was an exciting pressure to be a finale designer. It is a first for me. "We celebrate our decade today and Lakme celebrates its 15 years. The music was very unique because we did a very artistic setting. "The clothes are also very sculptural. We kept the music romantic and (such) which fills large spaces in a beautiful way," Gaurav said. Dune-like textures featured in the garments through boning and silver rivulets and large ruffles swayed through the drapes. The fabrics used were mostly neoprene, tulle, silks and georgettes in colours like gray, black, ivory and red. The show, however, was low on celebrity turn out with only Dia Mirza, Aditi Rao Hydari, Prateik Babbar, Shriya Saran, Zayed Khan in attendance.
Kareena Kapoor to watch “Talaash”
Kareena Kapoor is yet to watch her own film 'Talaash' and is planning to catch the movie with husband Saif Ali Khan once he is free from his work commitments. The suspense thriller, also starring Aamir Khan and Rani Mukherji, opened to a good response this Friday. Kareena, who plays the role of a street-walker, said Saif is very keen to watch the film. "This year I haven't seen 'Ekk Main Aur Ekk Tu' or 'Talaash' onscreen as I was so nervous for both the films. I am gonna see the film on December 10 once Saif returns from Lucknow," Kareena told PTI. Saif is shooting for his upcoming film 'Bullet Raja' in Lucknow. "He is very keen to see the film because he loves Aamir's work he has a lot of faith in Zoya and Reema. Actually he doesn't watch too many movies, but he definitely wants to catch this one. I'll probably see it with him," said Kareena. 'Talaash' is directed by Reema Kagti, who has written the film's screenplay with Zoya Akhtar.
Kareena Kapoor will add new energy to the brand Q Mobile
After signing up Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor, Pakistan's largest selling mobile phone brand says she will add "new energy" and help further consolidate its position. The 33-year-old actress has been signed up by QMobile and will star in Pakistan's most expensive ad ever. "The profile that she carries, the candid charisma, and back to back mega hits, all this in addition to enjoying the number one status in the Bollywood female star category, made us select her as our brand ambassador. "Being the number one mobile phone brand in the country we couldn't settle for anything less," Zeeshan Akhtar, Chairman and CEO of QMobile told PTI. Kareena comes with a huge price tag. Last year, she had signed up for a beverage company in India for a whopping Rs 5 crore. Asked how much Kareena charged for the ad, that would be shot in Thailand, he said, "We call it investment, not cost and that is suppose to be a secret." He said an international team was hired for the entire production and the storyboard that he selected demanded everything to happen in Thailand. Bollywood has a huge fan following in Pakistan. Akhtar was not very direct when asked if QMobile plans to bring Kareena to Pakistan. "Well in a way we already brought her to Pakistan. Millions of households will watch her endorse Qmobile," he said.
